Sintagma
Syntagma Square, or as it is called - the square of the Constitution, is the central area of modern Athens.
The main attraction of the area - a monument to the Unknown Soldier, as well as the guardsmen of the National Guard, which have guard duty dressed in traditional Greek uniforms.
Inauguration of the monument to the Unknown Soldier was held in 1932 in the Greek Independence Day. The monument is decorated with the famous words of Pericles, in memory of fallen soldiers carved on both sides of the eternal flame, and the obelisks in memory of major military victories, beginning with 1821.
